The Cambridge money app gives you the freedom to keep a check on your finances while you're on the go.

Now you can have access to your accounts and balances whenever you need them, right from the palm of your hand.

It's simple to set up and there's no fiddly, multi-character passwords. Just a 5-digit passcode and fingerprint or face ID will give you immediate, secure access to your accounts, so that you can check on your balances and make transfers.  

Plus, you can personalise your accounts, find your nearest branch, and contact The Cambridge all while out and about.*

We've pulled together our most commonly asked questions, including how to get set up and what you can do on The Cambridge Money App, to help you get the most out of our mobile app.

What will I be able to do on The Cambridge Money App?

For all savings and mortgage accounts you can: 

  • Check account balances
  • View transactions
  • Set up and track your personalised savings goals
  • Open online savings accounts
  • Set up your maturity instructions for your savings account
  • Reset your login credentials, including your passcode, password, and memorable word and User ID directly via the app
  • View statements generated by The Cambridge
  • Change personal or security details
  • Request transfers to your nominated bank account via secure messages
  • Find your nearest branch or store and their information
  • Contact us
  • Personalise account names

 

For our online savings accounts (such as Your Saver) you'll be able to: 

  • Transfer money to your nominated account
  • Transfer money to a Cambridge account 

 

Please note: You’re only able to transfer money to your nominated account, you cannot add new payees. If you’d like to set up or change your nominated bank account, please call us on 0345 601 3344 or pop into your nearest store.

 

How do I log into the Money App for the first time?

Complete these simple steps to register to use our online services for your existing account with The Cambridge:​

  1. Request your User ID, pop in store or give us a call on 0345 601 3344 (if you have not received one)
  2. Download The Cambridge Money App
  3. Click Forgotten/Create Password  
  4. Enter your User ID and personal details such as name, date of birth and post code
  5. Get a one time passcode sent to a registered mobile or email
  6. Enter this passcode in the app
  7. Create a password
  8. You will be taken back to log in screen, log in and you will be prompted to enter a memorable question and answer and to reset your User ID

You'll then be asked to set up a 5 digit passcode and enable Touch or face ID for quicker future log ins.

 

Helpful registration requirements

User ID requirements:

The User ID can be a name or word that is memorable to yourself, and can be reset at any time either online, in your nearest store, or via the telephone.

Password requirements: ​

​The password will need to be between 8 – 16 characters and contain a capital letter and a number.

Memorable word requirements:​

The memorable word will need to be between 6 – 16 characters with no space in the word. Memorable words aren’t case sensitive. ​

Tip - make sure passwords are complex, and make sure that they contain a mixture of numbers and letters. We also advise that you use a different password for each website you use.​

 

What if I've forgotten my login details?

You can reset your login credentials, including your passcode, password, memorable word and User ID at your convenience via the app. If you need any additional help, please call our Customer Contact Centre on 0345 601 3344, we will be happy to help.

 

Can I register for online access if I have a branch based savings account?

Yes. Call us on 0345 601 3344 or pop into one of our stores to register and get your login details. You'll then be able to login to our online services and download our Money App. 

 

Who can use The Cambridge Money App?

The money app is available to our members who have registered for our online services or have an online account, such as an e-Saver or Your Saver. For security reasons our app will be supported by the latest Android and Apple applications, which may not be compatible with older devices. 

 

Is The Cambridge Money App free?

Yes, the money app is free to download.

 

Where can I download The Cambridge Money App from?

If you have an iPhone you can download it from the App Store

If you have an Android you can download it from Google Play

Search for ‘Cambridge Building Society’, 'The Cambridge Building Society' or 'The Cambridge Money App' and you’ll see The Cambridge logo. Tap on the app and press get or install.

 

What device do I need to be able to use The Cambridge Money App?

To use The Cambridge Money App, you’ll need to be operating on Android 12 or iOS 15 (Apple) or above. You can find which system version you’re on within the ‘Settings’ on your device or in the Compatibility for your active devices section on your chosen app store.

If you’re still using one of the older versions of our money app, you may be forced to install the most up to date version to be able to use the app, ensuring you benefit from the latest features and the most secure version.

 

How can I enable or disable the biometric recognition option?

Once you log in, the app will prompt you to get started.

If you have enabled the biometric sensors, and you have the latest version of the money app, you'll get a message asking if you would like to enable biometric login when you first open the app.

If you didn’t do it the first time or you change your mind, don’t worry you can go back and enable or disable this at any time.

Select the three dots in the top right corner > Select the person icon > Under the security section you can enable/disable this

 

What is a secure message?

Secure messaging allows you to send us an instruction, e.g. transfer money to your nominated bank account, request a new passbook for savers or reduce the amount you overpay each month on your mortgage, instead of giving us a call or going to branch.

 

Will there be additional services added to The Cambridge Money App?

Yes! We’re always thinking of new ways to develop our Money App. So don’t forget to keep your app up to date to make sure you’re getting the most out of our online services.

 

How secure is the online service and The Cambridge Money App?

Security is at the heart of all our online services, including the money app. Our services are tested by independent experts to make sure you, your details and your money are safe.

How can I make sure the app stays secure?

Keeping your device and app up to date will help ensure that you're staying as safe as possible. Also, make sure you use strong and unique passwords and don’t share any of your login details with anyone.

 

How can I stay secure online?

There are a few simple things you can do too, so remember:

  • Never share your log in details or personal information with anyone
  • When using the app in a public place, be careful to keep your details out of sight of others
  • Create a password or PIN to access your device as well as a passcode for the app
  • When finished using the app, remember to log out
